Accountant

Length of study: 2 years

As an accountant you like order and analysis.

In the School of Economics, you get to know the business environment. Here you will learn about financial accounting, tax accounting and also management accounting. You will learn how to organize accounting in such a way as to ensure accurate information about the financial status and results of the economic entity. You are guided by European Union standards, professional ethics and reporting principles. We will teach you how to become your own boss by starting a company that specializes in accounting services.

After graduating you can work in different companies, provide accounting services or start your own company. By offering accounting services to others, you have the opportunity to be the master of your time and choose the clients you prefer. Your main duties are related to filling out tax returns and statistical reports (e.g. annual reports). Your work includes a lot of responsibility and you are qualified to work both independently and in a team. You know how to plan your workflow and time and have become an excellent communicator.

In addition, you can proceed to study economic accounting or financial accounting at colleges and universities or enrol for the continuing education program of a tax specialist at the Tallinn School of Economics.

As a secretary you will be the heart of the organization – you know the organization and its operating principles perfectly.

As a secretary you are the first contact person in the company with whom clients communicate and therefore your style, attitudes, skills and knowledge also serve as the business card of the institution. As a secretary you deal with information exchange, document work and servicing internal and external customers of the organization.

In the School of Economics you will learn document and information management and the organization of archiving, the implementation of data protection requirements, the use of information systems in document management processes, organizational relations and travel management, etiquette, HR work, the basics of accounting and languages. The acquired knowledge and skills will enable you to offer valuable support to HR specialists and accountants.

As a secretary you master several roles – right hand to the manager, irreplaceable assistant to the internal client and expert company representative to the external client. The duties of a secretary depend on the specifics of a particular organization and require friendliness in communication, quick and appropriate action and ensuring the confidentiality of information, as well as coping with different people and situations.

As a graduate of the Tallinn School of Economics you are very well prepared for working as a secretary, office assistant, assistant to the HR manager and accountant in both the public and private sectors.

Legal Assistant

By acquiring the occupational qualification of legal assistant you will be able to work as an assistant to a legal specialist in a wide range of fields in legal, lawyer, notary, bailiff and other offices and in court.

In the School of Economics you will become familiar with the legal landscape – i.e. the basic concepts of law and the basic outputs of their application in order to smoothly navigate this exciting landscape as an assistant to legal specialist. The School of Economics opens up the opportunity for you to acquire a completely new professional competence or to integrate the professional competence of a legal assistant into your portfolio of existing skills, for example by working in the social field or as an adviser to the unemployment fund or by assisting legal specialists in law offices.

Studies, including internships, provide an overview of the rich work outputs of legal fields in both the public and private sectors. The position of legal assistant requires curiosity about what is happening in society, a desire to contribute to solving problems or preventing them. You are suitable for the position of a legal assistant if you are a good communicator, flexible, can handle stressful situations, feel good working in a team and respect professional ethics.

We entrust you with the compass of basic knowledge of law and the basic skills of applying legal norms. After graduating you will be ready to assist legal specialists in a wide range of fields. The studies end with an occupational qualification exam.

As a social media specialist you like to tell stories that make a difference.

In the School of Economics you will learn to see social media platforms as marketing channels that, in addition to getting the likes, actually bring in money. You will learn to write stories that interest people and know what the company’s target audiences want to see. We will teach you how to understand what is important from huge amounts of information and use this for your own purposes. Soon you’ll be able to use Photoshop to design eye-catching posts and edit your own video clips.

After graduating you are ready to be employed by organizations operating in various sectors. Your job is to manage and strategically develop various social media channels. As a social media specialist you know how to collect data, prepare analyses and act upon your findings. You can think outside the box and act faster than your competitors.

As a Marketing Specialist you are a creative spirit with bold ideas who is also comfortable with numbers. 

At Tallinn School of Economics we will give you all the tools you need to shine in the fields of marketing, sales, leadership and project management. We will teach you how to differentiate from competition and become a skilled customer relations manager. You will learn the ins and outs of online marketing and abbreviations like ROI, BTL and B2B will no longer leave you confused. You will become a skilful negotiator and presenter. 

After graduation you are ready for employment in public, private or third sector as well as in international organizations. Your job is likely to include preparation of marketing budgets, campaign management, market research and data analysis. As a quality specialist you take care of the efficiency and performance of the organization.

Socio-economic changes are taking place in our society and all organizations, both in the private and public sectors, need to constantly adapt to changes.

Organizations need quality management more than ever and hire quality specialists to better manage the ways of working in the organization, to analyse the situation and make improvements.

As a quality specialist you are an advisor and consultant to the management of the company. For customers, however, you are the representative of the company to whom they can turn with problems and suggestions related to services or products. The quality specialist together with the quality manager contribute to the improvement of the cooperation of the members of the organization so that customers receive products or services that meet their needs and expectations.

In the School of Economics, you will learn to manage changes and channel very different management information, set and measure goals, analyse and systematize activities to enhance performance. You will become familiar with various legislation, standards and assessment methods. You know how to organize trainings and connect different parts of the organization into a whole, so that the organization can continuously offer a competitive service or product. You are a team player who knows professional ethics and is a smart leader.

As a quality specialist you can work in a wide variety of fields and organizations in both the private and public sectors. Junior Project Manager

Length of study: 2 years

As a junior project manager you are a real team player who knows how to approach problems methodically.

In the School of Economics you will learn to plan project schedules and budgets. Before starting a project you collect all necessary information and manage risks and opportunities. Of course, you will learn to implement and analyse projects in order to evaluate the final result and apply learnings in  subsequent projects.

After graduation, companies from a wide variety of sectors are waiting for you. You will work as a member of a project group or manage small projects yourself.

As an HR specialist you like to work with people, to contribute to their development and career.

In the School of Economics you will learn to work independently with both numbers and documents. You will get to know the labour market, prepare HR strategies based on it and implement them, including evaluating positions, recruiting, evaluating and developing employees. At our school you will acquire the necessary principles of economic and tax accounting and the skills of conducting personnel research.

After graduating you can work in a wide variety of companies, as you have a general understanding of all areas of HR management and their interrelationships, while at the same time you know well at least one narrower area of HR work. Depending on the company, you either work independently or in the HR department. You help connect the people working in the organization into an integrated, well-functioning team.

As a small business entrepreneur you can be your own boss and create jobs for others.

In the School of Economics you will learn to start a company that stands strong and brings in income. We start from the beginning and together we create a business plan, based on which we establish the operational plans of your company. You learn to plan strategically and know how to take into account legislation, tax systems and personnel. At school you learn about business-related risks and see new opportunities.

After graduating from school you can independently take your company to new heights – you understand export and can successfully market your products and services both in Estonia and abroad.

You know how to develop your products and processes and set higher and higher goals for yourself.

As a business management specialist you are capable of seeing the big picture.

In the School of Economics you learn to understand business processes in various types of companies. You will be an accurate and analytical specialist who can see areas for improvement.

After graduating from school you will be involved in a company’s management processes and support them – regardless of what exactly the company does. You will become a specialist or a first-level manager. You are familiar with the company’s various areas of activity: marketing, sales, production or service processes, customer service or purchasing. Your daily work will be organizing activities and use of resources, planning and implementing marketing activities, organizing sales work, financial accounting, customer service, organizing the production, service or purchase process, etc. Communication, teamwork and management skills are important in your work.

CONTINUING VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

Data protection specialist

Length of study: 1 year 

Curriculum volume: 45 EKAP

Curriculum level: 5th level vocational training continuing education for a small business entrepreneur

Session-based study: study takes place on 2-3 days, either Tue-Wed or Thu-Sat every 2-3 weeks

 

As a data protection specialist, you are the company or institution’s contact person for all data protection issues.

According to the EU’s general regulation on the protection of personal data, it is necessary for institutions and companies to appoint a data protection specialist under certain conditions. This requirement applies to all public sector institutions and bodies (regardless of what data they process), as well as to other organizations that, as part of their core business, monitor persons systematically and on a large scale, or that process special types of personal data on a large scale. Even if the appointment of a data protection specialist is not necessarily required by the General Data Protection Regulation, organizations may sometimes find that a voluntary appointment is beneficial.

The data protection specialist monitors the implementation of data protection regulations, raises awareness and trains personnel in the field, conducts relevant audits. In addition, he or she provides advice regarding data protection impact assessment and cooperates with the Data Protection Inspectorate, being the employer’s contact person.

After completing the continuing education of a data protection specialist, you will have the opportunity to work as a data protection specialist in both the public and private sectors.

You can study for the Data Protection Specialist qualification if you have at least a level 4 qualification in the professional fields of business, administration or the corresponding competences, work experience and secondary education. Admission test is carried out in the form of an interview which allows the admission committee to get to know the candidate and assess his / her suitability for the chosen specialty and learning motivation.

Tax Specialist

Length of study: 1 year

Curriculum volume: 60 EKAP

Curriculum level: 5th level vocational education for accounteners (based on secondary education)

Session-based study: study takes place on 2-3 days, either Tue-Wed or Thu-Sat every 2-3 weeks

As a tax specialist you are familiar with both the legal and economic framework of the field.

You can learn to be a tax specialist if you have previously acquired a specialization in accounting or tax accounting or you have at least a level 5 accountant’s occupational qualification certificate or you have experience working as an accountant. Your previous education and experience will be supplemented by knowledge of tax law and tax procedure in general. For example, indirect and direct taxes, principles of international taxation, tax procedure and the basics of customs are some of the topics that you deal with on a daily basis with us. Together, we investigate current tax-related issues and the prosecution of tax-related offenses will also be addressed. 

After completing your studies to become a tax specialist you have the opportunity to continue your studies at the applied higher education level at The Estonian Academy of Security Sciences, work in both the public and private sectors, start your career at the Estonian Tax and Customs Board, advise entrepreneurs as an employer or an employee or simply be even better at your current job.

To begin one’s studies to become a tax specialist, a person must have graduated from economic accounting or accounting study programmes or must have passed the accountant level 5 or accountant’s assistant 1st occupational qualification exam.

Admission test is carried out in the form of an interview which allows the admission committee to get to know the candidate and assess his / her suitability for the chosen specialty and learning motivation.

 

Team Leader

Length of study: 1 year

Curriculum volume: 60 EKAP

Curriculum level: 5th level vocational education (based on secondary education)

Session-based study: study takes place once a month wed-sat

 

As a team leader you are capable of managing teams, motivating people and guiding processes.

After completing the curriculum you will have mastered the basic skills related to team management and the working mechanisms of organizational culture, you will be able to manage projects and related budgets. As a graduated team leader you use ICT tools to connect teams. Within the team leader curriculum you can learn and improve your knowledge in the field of both service and production organization. The learning process involves a lot of group work and active learning methods.

Optional studies:

The volume of optional studies in the team leader’s curriculum is 3 EKAPs. Optional subjects are selected at the beginning of the academic year within your study group. The 1-2 topics from the following list that are the most chosen within the study group will be taught:

To begin your studies you need to have at least a level 5 occupational qualification in one of the following professions: agriculture, fishing, forestry, food industry, service, technology, production and processing, or have the corresponding competencies.

Purchasing and Procurement Specialist

Length of study: 1 year

Curriculum volume: 60 EKAP

Curriculum level: 5th level vocational education (based on secondary education)

Session-based study: study takes place once a month wed-sat

 

As a purchasing and procurement specialist you know how to carry out correct procurement procedures and find the best offers.

You can begin your studies as a purchasing and procurement specialist if you have received a vocational education in the field of transport and logistics, business or administration. You can also enrol if you have acquired the relevant competencies at work.

In the School of Economics you will learn to organize purchasing and procurement operations taking into account the nature of the company. We will explain all important regulations to you. Since you are an important member of the team, we will help you become a better team player and you will learn to use the necessary technological tools with us.

As a graduate you can manage work groups and take responsibility for conducting procurements. You are excellent in your oral and written expression. Of course, you are also very precise, because that is what is expected from a purchasing and procurement specialist.
